I set out to make something very still. I used a limited palette on purpose — mostly whites and grays for the upper part, with a deep, dark brown-black below. The texture is the whole point here. I kept working into it, adding and removing, until the surface felt lived-in. Not busy, just present.
The line where the light meets the dark happened early and I built around it. I liked the balance. The top is air, space, quiet. The bottom is weight, earth, something solid. Neither side wins. They just sit together.
I don’t have a big story for this one. I made it because I wanted to see if I could make something plain feel complete. No tricks, no color pops, just surface and proportion. It’s calm, and I like that. It does exactly what I intended it to do
