Before It Settles

Acrylic on canvas. 90cm x 120cm

When I created this piece, I kept seeing a horizon that couldn’t decide whether it was ending or beginning. The upper part feels heavy to me—like a sky full of tension—so I broke it with streaks of gold, as if light is trying to push through. As I worked downward, everything started to warm up, turning into something that reminds me of a distant landscape, almost like land glowing after heat or fire.

At the bottom, I softened everything into a pale, quiet space. For me, it feels like the moment after something intense has passed—like ash settling, or mist covering what used to be clear. I didn’t want to define it too much, because I like that it can look like a storm, a sunset, or even a reflection on water depending on how you feel when you look at it.
